Research area: The connection between the «spirit» of modernity and the «spirit» of capitalism based on a genealogical interpretation of Max Weber’s thought (The rise of consumer capitalism in America 1880-1930, Routledge 2018).

‘My project attempts to revitalize Weber-inspired historically oriented social theory complementing the genealogical approach with the concept of liminality. This framework also brings to the fore other Weberian concepts and topics, such as the conduct of life, the question of the Menschentum, the dynamic of social change encapsulated in the “Switchmen metaphor” (Einleitung), and the interest in the relation of adequacy between human types and social orders (The meaning of Wertfreiheit)’
