Research area: Sociological theory and the history of sociology. The field of «Latin American sociology» and the tensions that are observed between this and other theories in the coordinates of the so-called «South» and «North». The work of Gino Germani, points of encounter and divergence between his theory of modern society and other «global» sociological theories such as dependency theories, world-system theories, post-industrial society theories or reflexive modernization theories.

‘The work of Max Weber has for me superlative importance and centrality in my academic development. It is deeply embedded in both my research and teaching interests. His figure, his intellectual and academic legacy, as we know, has been a cornerstone of «Latin American sociology.» From Medina Echavarría in Mexico to Gino Germani in Argentina or even Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Enzo Faletto in Brazil, it can be said that Latin American sociology has drawn on the inexhaustible source of concepts and methodological perspectives proposed by Weber.’
