Research area: «Sociology of professions» field and the concept of «profession» in the world of civil engineering. Max Weber’s works on Beruf. Also, public policies from an ethnographic approach, mythical infrastructures and technology in Bruno Latour.

‘Max Weber laid the foundations for the study of «vocation» or «profession» as a domain of social life that individuals can manage with their knowledge and work. The question open to current research is about the concrete forms that this promise of modernity takes and about its rational and irrational effects in, and from, the different professional domains of contemporary society. In my research, this has led me to study philosophy as a profession in the UK and, more recently, engineering as a profession in Chile.’
